
Srinagar, May 17, 2026 :- Baramulla’s nine-year-old boy, Numaan Malik, has won the gold medal at the Karate Premier League Championship 2026. The two-day event was held on May 16 and 17 at the Indoor Sports Hall, Polo Ground, Srinagar. It was organised by the Amateur Karate Do Association of Jammu and Kashmir (AKAJK) and recognised by the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council.
As a premier league, the championship drew participants from across India, making it a truly national event. Nearly 350 children took part in different categories, showing discipline, skill, and determination. Among them, Numaan’s performance was outstanding, earning him the gold medal and bringing pride to his hometown of Baramulla.
The closing ceremony was attended by athletes, parents, and officials. Hanshi Bharat Sharma, President of the Karate India Organisation and President of the South Asian Karate Federation, was the chief guest. He praised the young players for their dedication and said karate helps children build confidence and character.
The event concluded with medals and certificates being distributed among winners. Numaan’s victory was celebrated warmly and is seen as an inspiration for other young athletes in Kashmir to take part in sports with passion and commitment.
