The scion of Abdullah dynasty has emerged as the new king of Jammu and Kashmir as his NC –Congress alliance has got decisive majority .Omar has been sworn as the first chief minister of the UT of Jammu and Kashmir .Remember CM of a UT and as such he has to navigate the ship of governance in all together changed politico-social scenario and he should take the ship of JK to safe shore .Along with Omar ,five other legislators have also taken the oath of office and secrecy .Omar has given a right message by anointing the MLA from Nowshara Rajouri Shree Surinder Chowdary as deputy chief minister  who defeated the big wing of BJP ,the chief of the saffron party and he was adequately rewarded by Omar .It also proves that Omar gave due representation to Jammu region by anointing another legislator from far off Chamb  constituency Mr Satish Sharma who had deserted Congress for not giving a ticket and he defeated the big gun Mr Tara Chand who was the former deputy chief minister of J&K .The NC’s alliance partner Congress did not take any ministerial birth at present though it gave unconditional support to the Omar led coalition .
Another pre poll allay of NC ,the CPI{M]  whose lone MLA is Mohd .Yousf Tarigami & and this party also stayed away taking a ministerial post in the coalition cabinet sworn today on 16th October in prestigious SKICC situated at the bank of Dal Lake .Whatever it is ,Omar Abdullah is the  new king of Jammu and Kashmir .Just after his swearing in as the maiden chief minister of the UT ,he has said that his government will try to come up to the expectations of the people of J&K and he did not stop here but said the people of JK have suffered a lot during these years for not having a democratic government and that he will try his best to give an impression to the alienate people of the UT ,that the government is their own and it will take care of the people and address the genuine issues of the people .But as the politico-social scenario is existing in J&K ,the chief minister Omar Abdullah will no doubt will be the new king of Jammu and Kashmir  .So new chief minister has to function in a totally different scenario and he has one side please the power of Delhi and on the other hand has to keep LG in good mood .Besides Omar has the tough job of coordinating the alliance partners though Congress and CPI [M] has not entered into government for the time being .
Omar has to make a tight rope walk while carrying on the work of governance .The chief minister has to tread cautiously and carefully as any misstep can cost him and his coalition government dearly .Thus he should act in such a way as he should not annoy centre government and the LG of the UT .He should work in close liaison and coordination with the LG who is the constitutional head of the JK UT .At the same time Omar has to also work in coordination with the centre government which is the mantra of a federation and the unitary spirit of the constitution .He should not pursue any such agenda and work at cross roads with the centre and thus he should not do any such thing which will precipitate the relations between his government and the centre .Omar Abdullah has become the king of Naya Kashmir and one should say that he has become the new king of Naya Jammu and Kashmir .He has outlined the priorities of his government and said that restoration of statehood is his first priority and for that the new government will pass a resolution for full statehood for Jammu and Kashmir .He added that his government and NC is committed to restore article 370 but its pursuance can wait .We have many other issues concerning the people and the people of J&K have big hopes on the government and said his government will try to come up to the expectation of the people .
Omar Abdullah is the new king of J&K UT ,but he has to work within the confines of the J&K reorganization Act and within the constraints set by the UT’s rules and regulations But working within these constraints he has to carve a political space for him and work for the betterment of the people of J&K .Congress has not entered into the coalition government at the first instance because it wants the statehood to be first restored ,but it has pledged full support to the coalition government .There are also reports of differences and tussle between the NC and Congress even before forming the coalition and the Congress has thus extended outside support to the coalition government headed by Omar .It is not that easy to manage a coalition .Omar has to keep his flock together and for this he should fully master the art of managing coalition .
However he has said that he will try to strengthen the relations between the UT government and the union government .Omar Abdullah has emerged the new king of Naya J&K and he will work for the betterment of the people of the Jammu and Kashmir .Omar has taken the mantle of the coalition government but there are many challenges before the new government .He said that his government will be as much as of those who voted for NC ,but it is as much of those people who did not vote in  favor of NC .The winning of 42 seats from Kashmir shows and proves that the era of NC has not ended but is strong today.
GOI is committed to restore the statehood to Jammu and Kashmir as prime minister Modi and home minister Amit Shah has umpteen times in the recent past stated that union government is committed to the restoration of statehood to J&K and as such Omar government has not do much in this respect as at an appropriate time the centre will give back statehood to J&K and there is not an iota of doubt about it .Omar Abdullah’s government should not take any confrontation with either LG and the centre government but take both of these in confidence to pilot the ship of the governance to safe destination .All the above shows that Omar is not the full king but a half king and thus he should work in close coordination with the centre and the LG in the interest of the people of J&K .May God help Omar to deliver best for the people.
