
Emphasizes Innovation and Regional Growth
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah presided over the valedictory function of the Summer School 2025 at IIT Jammu, marking the successful completion of a month-long program that engaged over a thousand students nationwide.
Praising IIT Jammu as a hub of talent, the Chief Minister highlighted the importance of such initiatives in providing youth, especially from J&K, with platforms to develop their skills and realize their potential. He stressed the need for broad participation and urged that students from J&K be given opportunities to transform their ideas into action.
Omar Abdullah revealed that the J&K government is exploring collaborations with IIT Jammu in areas including water conservation, climate change adaptation, industrial growth, and business incubation. He welcomed proposals on tourism and green transport, encouraging students from other regions to visit J&K and act as its ambassadors.
Reflecting on past challenges, he expressed optimism, stating that the government is focused on handing over a better, empowered J&K to future generations.
Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani also lauded IIT Jammu as a landmark institution and emphasized expanding sectors like tourism and hospitality through innovation and infrastructure development.
The initiative, part of IIT Jammu’s innovation ecosystem, saw participation from over 25 states and union territories, with nearly one-third of the 1,000 students hailing from J&K. The program offered intensive modules in AI, Cybersecurity, Full Stack Web Development, IoT, Data Science, and Additive Manufacturing, blending theory with hands-on training, industry interactions, and mentoring.
The ceremony was attended by senior officials including Director IIT Jammu Dr. Manoj Gaur, Board Chairman Sharad Kumar Saraf, and other faculty and students.
Each module comprised over 40 hours of intensive instructions, combining theoretical lectures with hands-on training, industry interactions and feedback-driven mentoring sessions.
The programme brought together faculty, researchers and education partners, including alumni-led startups, who contributed significantly to the initiative's delivery.
The ceremony was attended by senior dignitaries including Director IIT Jammu Dr Manoj Gaur, Board of Governors' Chairman Sharad Kumar Saraf, Chief Innovation Officer Prof MT Arvind and Dr Navneet, along with faculty and students.
