The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National General Secretary and Jammu and Kashmir in-charge Tarun Chugh has criticized J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for attempting to politicise and create controversy over restoring statehood to the region.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have committed to restore statehood and he will fulfill his promise but the Jammu Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah has been doing politics continuously and has been creating unnecessary controversy,” Chugh said.
On October 19, the Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet passed a resolution urging the Union Government to restore statehood of the Union Territory.
The Cabinet which met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, on Thursday passed a unanimous resolution for restoration of statehood in its original form.
The Cabinet has authorised the CM to take up the matter with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Government of India for restoration of statehood.
The NC-Congress alliance won the assembly polls in J&K held after a gap of ten years.
NC won 42 seats while the Congress managed to win six seats in 90—member J&K Assembly.
