Srinagar, Oct 14: Questions have been raised over parking safety and vehicle security arrangements at Paras Health in Srinagar after a visitor alleged that his concerns about leaving vehicle keys inside parked cars without receipts were met with a dismissive response from the hospital’s security head, Rajnish Dogra.
The visitor said he had gone to the hospital on Tuesday for a medical consultation when he questioned the practice of asking visitors to leave their vehicle keys inside their cars without issuing parking receipts. He also sought clarification about the verification measures in place to prevent vehicles from being taken out of the parking area by unauthorised persons.
According to the visitor, Dogra responded, “I am not accountable to you,” when he raised the concerns. The visitor further alleged that the security head referred to CCTV surveillance and described the issue as an infrastructure problem.
The allegations could not be independently verified, and the hospital management’s response was not available at the time of filing this report.
The incident has brought attention to questions about accountability and preventive security at healthcare facilities, where patients and attendants routinely park their vehicles while seeking medical care.
While CCTV cameras can help establish the sequence of events if an incident occurs, the visitor argued that surveillance alone does not address concerns about vehicle-key handling, verification at exit points and responsibility in the event of theft or unauthorised removal.
He maintained that his query was aimed at understanding the safeguards in place and determining who would be responsible if a vehicle went missing under the existing parking arrangement.
The visitor has urged the hospital management to review its parking procedures, clarify its responsibility for vehicles and keys left under the arrangement, and ensure that security personnel respond professionally to concerns raised by members of the public.
