
Even as his party’s president Sajad Lone remains under detention, former minister and Peoples Conference leader Imran Reza Ansari met the Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu on Friday.
According to an official spokesperson, Imran Raza Ansari, former PDP leader called on the Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu at the Raj Bhavan.
“Ansari discussed with the Lt Governor various issues of public importance and overall development of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir,” the official spokesperson said in a statement.
“The Lt Governor urged Ansari to continue working towards promoting public welfare,” the statement said.
The meeting assumes significance as it comes at a time when the PC chief Sajad Lone has been kept under curbs by the UT administration following the abrogation of the Article 370.
According to sources, Lone, who had famously called PM Narendra Modi as his “elder brother”, was “on board” before the meeting took place.
Meanwhile, a delegation of Helpline Humanity led by Dr. C K Gariyali also called on the Lt Governor and apprised him about various welfare issues of the migrant Kashmiri Pandits related to recruitment in Prime Minister’s employment package for migrant Kashimri Pandits and other employment & accommodation related issues, extension of Ayushman Bharat Scheme, BPL cards for relief holders, upgradation of medical and educational facilities etc.
A delegation of residents of Padder area led by BDC Chairperson Sh. Arpan Singh apprised the Lt Governor about the issue pertaining to the grant of ST status to the local residents and also put forth various developmental issues of the area.
Sh. Junaid Mir, President, Jammu and Kashmir Workers Party (JKWP) sought Lt Governor’s intervention for the redressal of the various issues of public importance pertaining to the welfare of Daily-wagers, trainings for elected Panchayat representatives and BDC members, employees’ issues of PHE & NRHM, road safety measures, strengthening of road network, developmental issues related to Pir Panchal range, Tanghdar Kupwara and Jammu and other youth related issues.
The Lt Governor gave a patient hearing to the issues and demands projected by the members of the delegations and President JKWP and assured them to take up the genuine issues raised by them for examination and early redressal.
