Jammu, June 19: With the objective of creating awareness among passengers to travel with valid tickets and to prevent revenue loss, a surprise ticket checking drive was conducted today, 19 June 2026, in Train No. 26404 under the leadership of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu, Shri Uchit Singhal in Jammu Division, Northern Railway. The main objective of the drive was to curb passengers traveling without tickets. During the inspection, 51 passengers were found traveling without tickets or without reservation, and administrative action was taken against them, with a penalty of ₹40,650/- realized.
In this regard, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu, Shri Uchit Singhal said, "The objective of Jammu Division is not just to collect penalties, but to motivate passengers for disciplined and valid travel. During summer and travel season, traveling without a ticket not only causes revenue loss to Railways, but also deprives genuine passengers of seats. He appealed to all passengers to always travel with a valid ticket. For passenger convenience and revenue protection, such surprise inspections will continue regularly in the future."
Jammu Division appeals to all its esteemed passengers to obtain a valid ticket before their journey through the counter, IRCTC website, UTS App, or RailOne App. If, for any reason during the journey, you need to travel beyond your destination station, get the journey extended with prior permission from the TTE to avoid unnecessary penalty.
