‘Irfan’s monthly income crosses Rs 50 lakh, owns fleet of cars’

People’s Conference’s Irfan Raza Ansari is the richest in the fray among the 12 candidates who will be fighting it out on the Srinagar parliamentary constituency which is going to polls on Thursday.
Irfan’s assets, as per the affidavit filed by him, are worth more than Rs 67 crores which include moveable and immovable property.
The affidavit reveals that Ansari owns nearly 190 Kanals of land, including 170 agricultural and more than 17 non-agricultural properties at seven different places.
He also owns more than seven cars, which include two Mercedes, a Fortuner, a Range Rover and a Land Cruiser, apart from a Harley Davidson motorcycle. His monthly income is more than Rs 50 lakh, which has gone up from Rs 8 lakh per annum in 2013-14. His liabilities are more than Rs 6 crore.
Apart from Irfan Ansari, those in the fray include Dr Farooq Abdullah of National Conference, Aga Syed Mohsin of People’s Democratic Party, Abdul Rashid Ganie of National Panthers Party, Abdul Khaliq Bhat of Shiv Sena, Nazir Ahmad Sofi of Manavadikar National Party, Showkat Hussain Khan of Janata Dal (United) and remaining three are independents Abdul Rashid Banday, Bilal Sultan and Sajad Ahmad Dar.
Ansari’s wealth is five times more than that of veteran political bigwig of the state, Dr Abdullah, who is also in the fray in the ongoing parliamentary elections.
According to the affidavits filed by Dr Farooq Abdullah, his assets worth is Rs 11.5 crore, which includes Rs 1.5 crore of moveable and more than Rs 10 crore of immovable assets. Dr Abdullah has zero liabilities and owns more than 10 Kanals of land, agricultural as well as non-agricultural. Abdullah is also the owner of three cars.
The Hindu rightwing BJP’s Khalid Jahangir, who is 12th standard pass out, according to his affidavit, and was head of a government-run construction corporation in the PDP-BJP coalition government, has declared in the affidavit that his assets as worth more than Rs 2 crore, which includes Rs 60 lakh of moveable properties and the rest is immoveable.
Jehangir also owns four cars, which include a Fortuner and an XUV, and has 13 Kanals of land, both in the state and outside the state. Khalid also has a diploma in peace studies. Khalid’s liability is Rs 38 lakh. Jehangir is fighting for the first time in the Parliamentary elections.
Aga Syed Mohsin, PDP’s candidate in the fray, has assets worth Rs 1.5 crore, which includes movable assets worth Rs 18 lakh and the rest is immovable property. Mohsin owns seven Kanals of land, with no liabilities.
