
The Press Information Bureau (PIB) Srinagar organized a media workshop titled “Varta” to strengthen collaboration between the media and government institutions. The event brought together senior journalists and media professionals from print, electronic, and digital platforms to discuss responsible journalism and effective communication of public welfare schemes.
The workshop was inaugurated by Nitish Rajora, Director of Information and Public Relations, J&K, who emphasized the media’s vital role as the fourth pillar of democracy, especially in sensitive regions like Jammu & Kashmir. He highlighted the need for accurate reporting and strong coordination between media and government bodies to ensure transparency and public trust.
Qazi Salman, Director of PIB Srinagar, spoke about India’s progress in inclusive growth, healthcare, and agriculture, attributing these achievements to technology, transparency, and targeted policies.
Presentations included an overview of the Ayushman Bharat health schemes by Dr. Waseem Akram, detailing significant outreach and treatment numbers in J&K. Representatives from SKUAST-Kashmir outlined the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyaan campaign, promoting modern agricultural practices among farmers.
Interactive feedback sessions allowed journalists to engage with experts, fostering open dialogue. The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks, reaffirming PIB’s commitment to supporting informed public discourse and stronger media-government relations in the region.
