In a significant step towards promoting sports and recreational activities, the Office of the Deputy Commissioner Pulwama has initiated the process of allocating Kahcharie land (Khasra No. 996) for the establishment of a playground in K.Kot, Awantipora.
A formal directive has been issued to the Assistant Commissioner (Development) Pulwama and the Tehsildar Awantipora, instructing them to verify the matter and submit a detailed report along with relevant revenue extracts within a week's time. The move comes in response to a request from Suhaib Ayoub, District President (Minority), Pulwama, who has been advocating for a dedicated sports facility in the area.
The proposal has received strong backing from the J&K Waqf Board, with a letter from the Personal Section of the Chairperson, J&K Waqf Board Srinagar (No: PS/HCP/JKWB-J/2025/69, dated 04-02-2025), emphasizing the need for a playground in the locality.
Expressing his gratitude, Suhaib Ayoub thanked Deputy Commissioner Pulwama for his positive response and assurance on the matter. He underlined the importance of having a sports infrastructure for the youth of K.Kot, stating that a dedicated playground would provide young athletes with much-needed space for training and recreational activities.
