Since India became independent, the Congress Govt remained in power for a long-time but no effort was made to remove Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. The bitter truth about the condition of J&K during the Congress Govt isn’t hidden. Riots ensued all around in J&K, never-ending terrorist incidents, stone pelting, Jihadi riots, crying innocent people, this was the reality of Jammu and Kashmir.
Despite being a part of one country, J&K had its own flag, its own constitution, and even its own Govt.
For a long time, voices were raised in the country to abolish Article 370 and 35A J&K, but every time the Congress rejected this demand outright and refused to even talk about it. Due to its selfishness, the Congress party worked to earn its political profits by keeping the people of J&K in the dark.
But under the leadership of Modi Govt, a different picture of J&K is visible for the better. Before coming to power, the Modi Govt had decided that it’ll eliminate the principle of 2 symbols, 2 constitutions and 2 heads from the country.
That is exactly what happened, because on August 5, 2019, under the leadership of PM Modi and the able guidance of Amit Shah, taking a historic step, Article 370 and 35A were abolished from J&K forever and made Jammu and Kashmir an integral part of India forever.
During the winter session of Lok Sabha, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah clearly stated that the Modi Govt has made the dream of one symbol, one constitution and one head come true in India.
BJP has been running with this slogan for 70 years and the Modi-Shah duo has made this slogan true.
It is noteworthy that after the repeal of Section 370 and 35A, a new wind of development has started blowing in J&K. Tourism has increased in J&K, terrorist incidents have decreased, incidents of stone pelting are rarely heard.
The centre continuously allocates a budget for the development of J&K which was considered a hub of terrorist activities, today has an atmosphere of peace. After all this, it would not be wrong to say that the picture of Jammu and Kashmir hasn’t completely changed under the Modi Govt’s tenure.
