September 09, 2024 | Mohammad Danish

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Jammu on September 14 to address poll rallies in support of BJP candidates in the Jammu province.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Jammu on September 14. He will be holding mega rallies on the day,” a BJP leader said.
Three-phased J&K election will start from Sept 18, and will conclude on Oct 1, while as counting of votes will take place on Oct 8.
The PM’s visit is expected to attract a large turnout, with the Prime Minister addressing several key issues concerning the region.
The visit comes at a critical time as the BJP ramps up its efforts to secure a strong foothold in the region for the upcoming elections.
The Prime Minister’s visit will be the third high-profile visit after Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah to the region of Jammu and Kashmir ahead of Assembly polls.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited Jammu on Sunday to address election rallies in Ramban and Banihal constituencies. Home Minister Amit Shah was in the union territory on Friday and Saturday during which he released the BJP’s manifesto for the elections.
Amit Shah on Friday during his two-day visit to the UT released BJP’s manifesto and made 25 promises to the people of the region. Among the 25 promises made by the party, the first included ‘wiping out terrorism and separatism in the state’, followed by prioritising and enhancing women’s financial security and self-reliance.
The saffron party promises to promote and develop the economy in Jammu-Kashmir and support existing businesses and small traders. Among several other promises, the BJP has assured to triple the old age, widow and disability pensions from Rs 1,000 to Rs 3,000, guaranteeing a life of dignity for the vulnerable groups. They have also ensured affordable healthcare for all by increasing the coverage of Ayushman Bharat Sehat Scheme by an additional Rs 2 lakhs from Rs 5 lakhs.
This is the first election in the erstwhile state after its special status under Article 370 of the Constitution was revoked and it was bifurcated into two Union territories.
