In an ongoing effort to combat drug trafficking, the police in Kulgam arrested two individuals and seized significant quantities of contraband substances.
At a checkpoint set up by officers from Police Station Qaimoh at Khudwani Bypass, one suspect, identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Kawaki Bazar Qaimoh, was apprehended while trying to flee. A search led to the recovery of 750 grams of cannabis from his possession.
In a separate operation at a checkpoint in Gulab Bagh, a second individual, Nizamuddin Kunshee, a resident of Gulab Bagh, was found carrying 3 kg of poppy straw, 3.5 grams of brown sugar, a digital weighing machine, and Rs. 29,750 in cash believed to be proceeds from narcotics.
Both suspects have been taken into custody, and cases have been registered under the relevant laws. Authorities urge the public to continue cooperating in the fight against drugs and report any suspicious activity to local police or by dialing 112 for swift action.
