Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 03 drug peddlers in Srinagar, Anantnag & Budgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In Srinagar, a police team of Police Post Urdu Bazar headed by Incharge Police Post Urdu Bazar at a checkpoint established at Bohri Kadal Srinagar intercepted a suspicious person. He has been identified as Farooq Ahmad Dar son of Mohd Akbar Dar resident of Chek Charat Ram Kunzar A/P Bohri Kadal. During Search, Charas like Contraband substance wrapped in maize peels weighing about 116 grams was recovered from his possession.
In Anantnag, a police team of Police Station Aishmuqam, at a checkpoint established at Ainoo crossing, intercepted & apprehended a suspicious person identified as Sabzar Ahmad Tantray, son of Gh. Hassan, resident of Ainoo Brai, Ashmuqam. During search, 318 grams of charas powder and 72 grams of charas-like substance were recovered from his possession.
In Budgam, a police team of Police Station Beerwah at a checkpoint established at village Aohangam-Rathsona road near Iron Bridge, intercepted a suspicious person who on seeing the police party tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully. During search charas like substance wrapped in corn husk, weighing about 116 grams was recovered. He has been identified as Faisal Ahmad Wani son of Mashooq Ahmad Wani resident of Kanihama Magam.
All the accused persons have been arrested and cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.
