Anantnag, Sep 23: Continuing its intensified drive against drug trafficking and substance abuse, J&K Police in Anantnag arrested four drug peddlers in two separate incidents and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police party of Police Post Sherbagh, during naka checking at Sarnal, apprehended 02 persons identified as Ruhail Ahmad Shah son of Javid Ahmad Shah resident of Naibasti Khanbal and Daniyal Ismail Bhat son of Mohd Ismail Bhat resident of Pehru Iqbal Abad. Upon their search, 02 grams of heroin from each was recovered. In this connection, FIR No. 323/2026 U/S 8/21-29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Anantnag and investigation has been set into motion.
Moreover, a Police party of Police Post Sangam, during naka checking at GB Khalil Naina Sangam, apprehended two suspicious persons identified as Shahid Hussain son of Liyakat Hussain resident of Barkhera Kund, Uttar Pradesh and Bablu son of Rajesh Gupta resident of Barkhera Kalan, Uttar Pradesh. During their search, approximately 147 grams of charas was recovered from their possession. Accordingly, FIR No. 269/2026 under the NDPS Act has been registered and investigation has been set into motion.
Police reiterates its commitment to taking firm and sustained action against drug trafficking and those involved in the illegal trade of narcotic substances.
