Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police in Awantipora arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

A police party of Police Station Awantipora headed by SHO PS Awantipora at a checkpoint established at Awantipora intercepted a vehicle (Innova) bearing registration number JK13B-9082. During search, 3.945 Kgms of grinded Poppy Straw was recovered from the possession of Shabir Ahmad Khan son of Noor Mohammad Khan resident of Lethpora. He has been arrested and shifted to the police station where he remains in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No.182/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Awantipora and further investigation has been initiated.
