
Police on Thursday conducted raids at multiple locations across the Valley in a crackdown against the banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI), officials said.
The searches were carried out in Anantnag, Pulwama, Budgam, Kulgam, and Kupwara districts, targeting residences and institutions linked to JeI members and their associates. The action follows credible intelligence suggesting the involvement of some JeI members in anti-national activities.
Electronic devices, documents, and literature were seized from these premises for detailed examination. In Kupwara, the Jamia Islamia Institute in Waripora, Handwara, was also searched over suspected unlawful activities and potential JeI connections.
In Budgam, raids were conducted in Chadoora, Soibugh, and Beerwah areas. Police emphasized that all operations were carried out following due legal procedures.
