Jammu and Kashmir police along with the CRPF conducted frisking at the city-centre Lal Chowk area of Srinagar.
Eyewitnesses said police and the CRPF conducted surprise frisking in Lal Chowk as part of the stepped-up vigil in the Srinagar city in the wake of the recent spate of militant attacks and the killing of a trooper in Maisuma market.
“Pedestrians were frisked while vehicles were also stopped and thoroughly checked. CRPF and police personnel were also seen checking identity cards of pedestrians.”
An official said that frisking operations have been intensified in Srinagar in the wake of militant presence.
After the killing of a CRPF head constable Vishal Kumar of 132 Battalion at Maisuma, police have arrested many youth from different parts of the city and its outskirts.
