Police launch girls’ volleyball event

Pulwama, Jan 8: In a significant initiative to promote sports and empower young girls, J&K Police inaugurated a Girls’ Volleyball Tournament at the Sports Stadium, Newa, under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2025–26.

The tournament witnessing enthusiastic participation from six teams representing different parts of Pulwama district, reflecting growing interest among girls in competitive sports. The opening match between GDC Rajpora and Elite Spikers Volleyball Club set an energetic and competitive tone for the tournament, drawing appreciation from spectators present at the venue.
The inaugural event was attended by DySP Hqrs Pulwama, DySP DAR, DySP PC Kakapora, along with SHO PS Pulwama, who encouraged the participating players and highlighted the importance of sports in fostering discipline, teamwork, and confidence among youth, particularly girls.
Praising the talent and zeal of the participants, the officers reiterated J&K Police’s commitment to youth engagement and community welfare through sports and constructive activities under CAP. Such initiatives aim to provide a positive platform for young girls to showcase their abilities and pursue sports as a means of holistic development.
J&K Police remains dedicated to nurturing sporting culture and strengthening police–public relations across the district.
