
J&K Police inaugurated a Volleyball Championship at Khushal Sports Stadium Sopore under the Civic Action Programme. A total of 08 volleyball teams/clubs from different areas of Police District Sopore are participating in the tournament.
The event witnessed the presence of ADC Sopore, Joint Director Education Baramulla, as well as prominent members of Civil Society Sopore, educationists, and trade Associations, who appreciated the initiative and encouraged the participating youth. The championship received an enthusiastic response from players across the district. Participating teams expressed their gratitude to J&K Police for organising the event and providing a constructive sporting platform.
During the inaugural ceremony, SSP Sopore Shri Iftkhar Talib-JKPS congratulated the teams playing the opening match and extended best wishes to all participants. He urged young players to channel their energy and creativity through sports, highlighting how games foster discipline, teamwork and positive engagement.
He further advised the teams to maintain sportsmanship, discipline and respect throughout the tournament. The inaugural match was played between Krankshivan Volleyball Club and Khelo India Volleyball Club. The primary objective of organising such events is to promote peace, brotherhood and healthy engagement among youth, while keeping them away from the menace of drug addiction.
J&K Police will continue to organise youth-centric sports initiatives to strengthen community relations and encourage a strong sporting culture across the Police district Sopore.
