
As part of its ongoing Civic Action Programme, Police in Baramulla organized a district-level Cricket Tournament to promote youth engagement and strengthen police-public relations. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from ten teams representing all five sub-divisions of District Baramulla.
The grand finale of the tournament was held at Tangmarg cricket ground, where sub division Tangmarg triumphed over sub division Uri, securing victory by 37 runs in an exciting and well-contested match.
SSP Baramulla Shri Gurinderpal Singh-IPS graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and distributed trophies and prizes among the winners, runners-up, and other participants. The event also saw the presence of SP (Ops) Shri Feroz Yahya, SDPO Tangmarg, and all SHOs of sub division Tangmarg, highlighting the strong support and active involvement of the district police leadership.
The tournament was aimed at encouraging the youth to engage in constructive activities, showcase their sporting talent and spread awareness against drug abuse. The initiative also served as a platform to foster unity, teamwork, and positive interaction between the police and the community.
A large gathering of local residents witnessed the final match and appreciated the efforts of J&K Police in creating such meaningful opportunities for youth development. Many attendees expressed hope for similar initiatives in the future.
