March 05, 2026 | BK News Service

Ganderbal, Mar 4 : Continuing its crackdown on illegal mining activities, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday seized three vehicles in Ganderbal district for their alleged involvement in the illegal extraction and transportation of minor minerals.

Officials said the vehicles, including two tippers and one tractor, were intercepted within the jurisdiction of Police Station Safapora and Police Station Kangan. The vehicles were reportedly transporting illegally extracted material from Nallah Sindh without the mandatory permissions.
Police teams from the concerned stations, acting in coordination with the Geology and Mining Department, intercepted the vehicles during checking and seized them on the spot.
Officials said illegal extraction of minerals not only results in revenue loss to the government but also poses a serious threat to the ecological balance of the region.
Police have warned offenders to desist from unlawful mining and transportation of minerals, stating that strict legal action will continue against violators involved in illegal extraction or trade of minerals.
