Political leaders condemn terror attack on Army convoy in Kathua

Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh expressed his condolences for the soldiers who were martyred in the ongoing encounter in Kathua district of Jammu province.

The minister assured the public that he is in constant touch with the authorities, including the Deputy Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police of Kathua.

Dr. Singh appealed to the civilian population to stay calm and assured them of the security forces' capability to handle the situation.

He emphasized the importance of community cooperation during such incidents and reaffirmed the government's support and gratitude towards the armed forces.

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad also condemned the terrorist attack on an Indian Army convoy in Kathua district.

Azad, in a post on social media platform X, expressed deep concern over rising terrorism in the Jammu province.

'Deeply saddened and strongly condemn the ambush on an army vehicle by terrorists in Kathua, resulting in the tragic loss of four jawans and injuries to six others. The rise in terrorism in Jammu province is deeply concerning. Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured and their families. The government must act decisively to tackle terrorism and ensure public safety!' Azad stated.

BJP JK spokesman, Altaf Thakur condemning the attack in a statement said, “Strongly denounce the cowardly act of terrorists in Kathua district where four soldiers were martyred. Express solidarity with the bereaved families. Hope police and other security forces will hunt down the terrorists involved in the act and punish them sternly.”

Apni Party Provincial President Jammu, and Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh also condemned the terror attack.

"The terror act is highly condemnable, and the perpetrators of the terror attack must be punished by our brave security forces, " said S. Manjit Singh in his statement that was issued to oppose the terrorist attack.

The attack in the Machedi area claimed the lives of four Army soldiers and left several wounded.

Currently, an encounter between troops and terrorists is ongoing in the area, which falls under the 9th Corps of the Indian Army, according to officials.
