Public services that once involved lengthy paperwork, delays and bureaucratic hurdles are now available at the click of a button. From digital identity through Aadhaar and seamless financial transactions via UPI to online healthcare, education and welfare delivery, technology has brought unprecedented transparency, efficiency and accessibility. India's digital payment revolution deserves special mention. Unified Payments Interface (UPI) has emerged as a global benchmark, processing billions of transactions every month. Street vendors, small traders, farmers and entrepreneurs now conduct cashless transactions with ease, making digital payments a part of daily life. Several countries are studying India's fintech model, reflecting the nation's growing influence in shaping the global digital economy. Digital India has also become a powerful catalyst for economic growth. Start-ups, innovation hubs, artificial intelligence, cloud computing and digital entrepreneurship have flourished, creating employment opportunities and attracting global investment. Young innovators are building world-class technology solutions from Indian cities and rural innovation centres alike, demonstrating the country's growing technological capabilities. Equally significant has been the programme's role in promoting financial inclusion and social empowerment. Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) has ensured that government assistance reaches beneficiaries directly, reducing leakages and strengthening public trust. Digital governance has improved accountability while enabling faster and more transparent service delivery. On the global stage, India's digital public infrastructure is increasingly being recognised as a model for developing nations. Countries across Asia, Africa and Latin America are looking to replicate India's success in digital identity, payment systems and e-governance. This growing international recognition has enhanced India's soft power and strengthened its position as a leader in digital innovation. However, success must not breed complacency. Bridging the digital divide remains an urgent priority. Millions still lack reliable internet connectivity, digital literacy and access to affordable devices. Cybersecurity threats, online fraud, data privacy concerns and misinformation continue to pose significant challenges that require robust policy responses and greater public awareness.
