Srinagar, Sep 19: Mohammad Qais clinched the silver medal at the 10th J&K UT Level Soft Tennis Championship 2026-27, held from September 17 to 19 under the aegis of the J&K Amateur Soft Tennis Association.

The championship was organised under the banner of the Amateur Soft Tennis Federation of India, recognised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council.
Qais put up a strong performance throughout the championship, securing the silver medal in the highly competitive tournament that brought together talented soft tennis players from different districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
The event provided a platform for players to showcase their skills, gain competitive exposure and further strengthen the sport at the grassroots and UT levels. The participation of players from across the districts also reflected the growing interest in soft tennis in the Union Territory.
Dr. Mubashir Ahmad, Head of Department, Islamic University, was the chief guest at the concluding ceremony, while Dilbagh Singh, Manager, Gindun Stadium, attended as the guest of honour. Dr. Gh. Hassan, founding member of the J&K Amateur Soft Tennis Association, was also present.
The guests congratulated the medal winners and appreciated the efforts of the organisers in promoting soft tennis and providing young athletes with opportunities to compete at the UT level.
Participants and officials from various districts appreciated the arrangements made by the J&K Amateur Soft Tennis Association for the smooth conduct of the championship.
The organisers said such competitions play an important role in identifying emerging talent and creating a competitive sporting culture across Jammu and Kashmir. The championship concluded with appreciation for the participating players, officials, coaches and all stakeholders who contributed to its successful conduct.
