Jammu, June 16: Northern Railway, Jammu Division is continuously achieving success in litchi parcel loading service from Pathankot, Punjab. Under the latest initiative, 8.3 tons of litchi have been successfully loaded from Pathankot Cantt Railway Station and dispatched via SLR to major railway stations like Bandra Terminus, Surat, Saharanpur and Ahmedabad.

This loading service for various destinations is currently ongoing during the litchi season and has become a reliable transport medium for local farmers and traders. Fresh fruits are being transported to different parts of the country in less time and safely through parcel vans.
Talking about the benefits of parcel loading service:
Fast Transport: Perishable fruits like litchi are reaching the market in about 24 hours by rail, keeping the quality of the goods intact.
Low Cost: Rail parcel service is economical compared to road transport, increasing farmers' profits.
Wider Market: Pathankot litchi is now reaching directly to Bandra Terminus, Surat, Valsad, Ahmedabad and Saharanpur, enabling farmers to get better prices.

On this successful loading, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Shri Uchit Singhal said, "Jammu Division is giving priority to the transportation of agricultural products. The parcel loading service is not only increasing farmers' income, but the concept of 'Kisan Rail' is also being realized. We appeal to more and more farmers to take advantage of this service."
The railway administration clarified that special arrangements for parcel vans and loading-unloading have been made during the litchi season, so that farmers face no inconvenience.
