
Jammu, June 12: Orchardists of Kashmir and Punjab in Jammu Division are continuously benefiting from the fast parcel service provided by Railways. Following the successful loading of cherries, 28 packages of fresh litchi were booked today, 12 June, from Pathankot Cantt station to Bandra Terminus, Mumbai.
After the successful loading and prompt dispatch of cherries from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and Jammu railway stations, the consignment of litchi has now also been booked on a priority basis. Today, 12 June, 28 boxes of fresh litchi booked from Pathankot Cantt to Bandra Terminus have been dispatched. The total weight of these 28 packages is 280 kilograms. Railways has loaded it in the parcel van of express trains and arranged for it to reach Mumbai market in minimum time, so that the freshness of the fruit is maintained.
In this season, from 1 June 2026 till now, a total of 128 packages of fresh litchi have been sent to various cities from Pathankot Cantt. This includes the 28 packages sent from Pathankot Cantt to Bandra Terminus. The total weight of 128 packages is approximately 1280 kilograms.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu Shri Uchit Singhal stated, "Pathankot region is famous for litchi production. After the successful loading of cherries, this consignment of litchi reflects the trust of farmers and traders. Railways has made parcel booking simple and fast to directly connect farmers and traders here with major markets of the country including Mumbai and Delhi. This consignment of litchi from Pathankot to Bandra Terminus is a result of the same effort. Our objective is that the farmer’s produce reaches the consumer in a fresh state and gets a fair price."
