A Met department spokesperson said isolated heavy rain or snow and lightning with gusty winds at 30-40 km per hour speed would occur during the next 48 hours under the influence of a Western Disturbance (WD), which is active in the region.
“During this time light to moderate rain and snow would also occur at most places in the valley for the next 24 hours,” he added.

Kongdori and Apharwat, the highest point of the cable car project in Gulmarg, also received light snowfall. However, Gulmarg, which is known for its ski slopes and the quality of snow, is deserted due to the lock down to curtain spread of Coronavirus.
Despite incessant intermittent rain overnight, the night temperature improved and settled above normal in the summer capital, Srinagar. People in the city woke up to a chilly and rainy Friday morning. Incessant rain continued throughout the day in Srinagar, where streets and markets remained deserted due to a complete lock down to curtail spread of Coronavirus.
The Met spokesperson told UNI that there would be light to moderate rain during the next 24 hours in Srinagar, where maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 12 degree and 6 degree, respectively.
World famous health resort of Pahalgam, about 100 km from here in south Kashmir, received rain since wee hours on Friday, resulting in dip in the day temperature. However, the upper reaches in Pahalgam, including Chandanwari, received very light snowfall.
