Kakching, Aug 28: Assam Rifles celebrated Raksha Bandhan at Pallel Garrison in Kakching district of Manipur on August 27, reinforcing the enduring bond of affection, respect and camaraderie between the Armed Forces and local communities.

The celebration brought together 179 participants, including 135 Assam Rifles personnel, 30 students of Assam Rifles Public School (ARPS), 10 local Meira Paibis and four women representatives of the Mumbai-based NGO Matri Bhoomi Ke Rakshak Foundation.
As part of the programme, rakhis were tied to Assam Rifles personnel in a gesture symbolising the traditional bond of protection, trust and affection. The ceremony also honoured the dedication of troops serving the nation and highlighted the close relationship between security forces and the people they serve.
The participation of local women and students added a strong community dimension to the celebrations, reflecting the spirit of mutual respect and solidarity. The event provided an opportunity for citizens to acknowledge the sacrifices and commitment of personnel deployed in the region while strengthening their emotional connection with the local population.
A ritual function was also organised at the garrison temple, where prayers were offered for the well-being of the troops, their families and the nation.
