
A graceful literary function was organized today at the Conference Hall of Tagore Hall by the Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, to unveil the acclaimed playwright and artist Sheikh Mohammad Hanif’s latest publication, a collection of his popular radio plays titled “Ration Card”.
The event was presided over by Shabir Mujahid, former Head of Doordarshan Kendra Srinagar, while Ghulam Rasool Akhoon, Head of Radio Kashmir Srinagar, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. Renowned broadcaster Syed Humayun Qaisar, noted writer Ayash Aarif, President of Adbee Markaz Kamraz Mohammad Ameen Bhat, and the author Sheikh Mohammad Hanif adorned the presidium.
A comprehensive research paper on the book was presented by distinguished playwright Nissar Naseem, which received immense appreciation and applause from the audience. Prominent literary figures including Syed Humayun Qaisar, Ayash Aarif, Mohammad Ameen Bhat, Ghulam Rasool Akhoon, Shakeel-ur- Rehman, Gulzar Ahmad Ganaie, Altaf Hussain and Manzoor Ahmad Mir also shared their insightful remarks on the author’s remarkable artistic contributions.
In his presidential address, Shabir Mujahid described “Ration Card” as a true reflection of contemporary social consciousness, acknowledging that Sheikh Mohammad Hanif’s radio dramas have consistently raised the voice of the common man. He expressed hope that the author will continue to contribute to art and culture with the same creative spirit in the years to come.
The proceedings were conducted by Dr. Syed Iftikhar Ahmad, Editor of the Encyclopaedia Wing at the Cultural Academy, while Maqbool Sajid presented the vote of thanks.
A number of eminent personalities from the fields of literature, Theatre, broadcasting, and arts attended the event including Mushtaq Ali Ahmad Khan, Dildar Ashraf Shah, Shabir Haqaq, Tahir Najar, Mohammad Yousuf Shaheen, Shafiq Qureshi, Farhat Siddiqi, Mohammad Shafi Khan, Hilal Ahmad Khan, Fayaz Khalil, Jameel Ansari and Mohammad Yousuf (Radio kashmir).
