Indian Army on Wednesday said reports of an altercation with police in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir are baseless and incorrect.

“Reports of an altercation between police and army personnel and beating up therein of police personnel are misfounded and incorrect,” defence spokesman said.

He said there were minor differences between the police personnel and a Territorial Army unit on an operational matter and they have been amicably resolved.

In last few years, army and police enjoy close synergy in counter-terrorist operations within J&K and anti infiltration operations at the International Border and Line of Control (LoC) in the UT.

Both police and army have been sharing information with each other and launching the security operations in close coordination among the agencies.

The police and army officials have been hailing and praising the close synergy between the two security agencies.
