A joint Anti-Beggary and Children in Street Situations (CISS) drive was carried in Katra Township by the Child Helpline in collaboration with the Police and Health Departments under the supervision of District Child Protection Officer Sachin Sharma.
During the operation, eleven children forced into beggary were rescued. After logging a DD entry at the Katra Police station, the children were transferred to Reasi. They are presented before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Reasi, where each child was imparted individual counseling. Following the counseling, all children have been shifted to Parisha Girls Home, Reasi for further action.
The Social Welfare Department, in convergence with District Administration, Reasi shall continue such drives in the entire district to rescue children and ensure they live a dignified life, while those involved in such anti-law activities were penalised as per provision of Juvenile Justice Act, 2015 and such other provisions.
