The residents of Tulbagh area of Pampore town in Kashmir’s Pulwama are up against the administration for failing in providing basic facilities to the area.
The people of the area said that the several damaged roads cutting through residential areas are yet to draw the attention of authorities delaying re-laying work.
The administration has re-laid several stretches of main roads that fall under the control of the Public Works Department in the last many years. However, the administration has so far turned a blind eye to the poor condition of interior roads managed by the municipal committe or local administration.
One such residential area is the Tulibagh area of Pampore town. People living in the area have been demanding relaying of roads in their area for the last several years.
Without regular maintenance and dedicated staff to tend to the greenery and maintain cleanliness, a number of parks in residential areas of Pampore wear an unwelcoming outlook.
In the absence of surveillance and proper arrangements for lighting, several parks in Tulibagh Pampore have become a safe haven for drug abusers and miscreants involved in malpractices.
Meanwhile, some parks around residential areas have been illegally encroached on and used as parking lots.
Locals said that they have brought the issues in notice to higher ups several times but to no avail.
They said that the area has been neglected for the last 15 years and they don’t have any hope now as for decades the promises made with them are proving hoax on the ground.
Locals urged LG and District administration to look into the matter and provide basic facilities to the area so that they too can live their lives happily.
Meanwhile, BJP District President Pulwama Lateef Ahmad Bhat expressed his concern over the lack of basic facilities in Tulbagh Pampore and urged the district administration to take steps to provide facilities to the people.
Bhat demanded that a separate executive officer should be appointed for Pampore town so that public problems can be resolved
The Incharge executive officer of the Pampore Municipal Committee says that 15 crore rupees have been approved to make Pampore town attractive, and the work on the development of the area will be started soon.
