Kulgam, May 23: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo, visited DH Pora in Kulgam district and inaugurated a primary school at Satrajan Bangiward. She also laid the foundation stone for an Additional Classroom (ACR) building at Government Middle School (GMS) Bangiward.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening educational infrastructure across Jammu and Kashmir, especially in rural and far-flung areas. She said that quality infrastructure is essential for creating a conducive learning environment and improving educational outcomes.
She emphasized that the education sector forms the backbone of social and economic development, and the government is prioritizing the upgradation of schools across the Union Territory. The newly inaugurated primary school, she said, will benefit local students by providing better facilities closer to their homes, while the additional classroom will help accommodate rising enrolment and improve the learning environment.
The Minister also directed officials to ensure timely completion of ongoing projects and maintain high standards of execution. She stressed that effective implementation is key to achieving meaningful improvements in the education system.
Later, Sakeena Itoo held a public darbar at Bangiward, where residents from adjoining areas raised several issues related to road connectivity, drinking water supply, healthcare, electricity, and school infrastructure.
She assured the public that genuine grievances would be addressed in a phased and time-bound manner, directing concerned departments to take immediate action on urgent matters. She reiterated that public outreach programmes are essential for responsive governance and bridging gaps between administration and people.
Local residents, parents, and school staff appreciated the initiatives and expressed gratitude for the focus on improving educational and civic infrastructure in the area.
