
Minister for Health, Medical Education, Social Welfare, and Education, Sakeena Itoo today laid the foundation stone of the main and administrative blocks of Government Degree College (GDC) Chadoora.
The event was attended by MLA Chadoora Ali Mohammad Dar, Directorates of Social Welfare, Health Services, Colleges, Family Welfare, AYUSH, college faculty, and a large number of locals.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister said, “This institution will be a beacon of knowledge and opportunity for the youth of Chadoora and surrounding areas.” She also announced that a college bus would be provided soon for students' convenience.
Itoo emphasized that the Chief Minister’s efforts have significantly improved the education system in Jammu and Kashmir, with multiple languishing projects revived and grassroots development accelerated. She reiterated the government’s aim to bring educational institutions closer to every village.
Highlighting recent welfare measures, she said that the government has increased old age pensions, marriage assistance, and now provides 200 units of free electricity and 10 kg ration for deserving families. Additionally, women now benefit from free transport in government buses.
MLA Ali Mohammad Dar thanked the Minister for fulfilling a long-pending demand, as the college had been operating from prefabricated huts.
Sakeena Itoo also met public delegations and individuals, assuring them that their genuine concerns would be addressed promptly.
