'Salute to forces for ending armed Naxalism'

October 25, 2026 | BK NEWS SERVICE

Kohima, Oct 24: The courage, dedication and sacrifices of the Central Armed Police Forces and state police forces have played a decisive role in bringing armed Naxalism to an end in the country after decades of violence and unrest.

Their sustained operations and commitment to restoring peace have opened a new chapter for people in areas once affected by Left-Wing Extremism. For communities that lived under the shadow of fear, the decline of armed Naxalism offers renewed hope for security, development and a better future.
Beyond the security gains, the transformation is also reflected in the growing confidence of people to participate openly in national life. With the restoration of peace and a stronger sense of national integration and harmony, people in formerly Naxal-affected areas can increasingly express their identity and aspirations without intimidation. The freedom to sing the national anthem without fear symbolises this change and the return of trust in democratic institutions.
This progress is a tribute to the personnel who operated in difficult terrain and challenging conditions, often at considerable personal risk. Their efforts, alongside the role of local police, administration and community engagement, have helped create conditions for peace and stability.
However, lasting success requires more than the weakening of armed groups. It must be consolidated through good governance, access to education and healthcare, livelihood opportunities, infrastructure and respect for the rights and dignity of local communities.
The real victory over Naxalism will be complete when every affected region enjoys lasting peace, inclusive development and equal opportunities. The sacrifices of the security forces must therefore be matched by sustained efforts to ensure that the people who endured years of violence become equal partners in the country's progress.
The end of armed Naxalism should mark not merely a security achievement, but the beginning of a lasting era of peace, trust and national integration.
