
Security has been tightened in border district of Poonch ahead of Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit on Friday to review the damage caused in Pakistani shelling.
Shah arrived in Jammu in the evening to review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
During his visit to Poonch tomorrow, Shah will also visit religious places and meet shelling-hit people and BSF personnel in the district, which recorded the highest number of 13 civilian deaths among the total 28 lives lost in the Pakistani shelling and drone attacks during the skirmishes between May 7 and 10.
After an overnight stay in Jammu, Shah will fly to Poonch on Friday and interact with shelling-hit families during his visit on Friday.
Security has been beefed up in Poonch districts in view of the home minister’s visit.
In Poonch, the checking of vehicles and frisking of people was taking place.
The security personnel had set up temporary check points at entry and exit points to keep a vigil on the movement of vehicles.
The security has also been tightened in Jammu for the HM’s visit.
Additional security personnel have been deployed around the Raj Bhawan, where Shah will stay and hold high-level security meeting.
