Security forces strengthen coordination in Northeast

Kohima, Oct 20: A Security Operational Group (SOG) meeting was held at Lekhapani on October 18, 2025, to review the prevailing security situation and enhance joint coordination among forces operating across Nagaland, South Arunachal Pradesh, and Assam. The meeting focused on strengthening synergy in counter-insurgency operations against proscribed groups in the region.

Attended by both civil and military authorities, the discussions emphasized proactive intelligence sharing, high vigilance, and a unified approach to effectively address insurgent threats. The meeting was particularly significant in the context of the recent extension of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) in certain areas, which underscores the need for coordinated security measures.
The DIG of Assam Rifles highlighted the importance of seamless cooperation among all stakeholders to maintain operational efficiency. Concluding the meeting, all security and intelligence agencies reaffirmed their commitment to sustained peace, stability, and the collective safety of communities across the northeastern region.
