Secretary School Education, Ram Nivas Sharma, conducted an extensive visit to several educational institutions in Srinagar today, engaging directly with students and teachers to assess on-ground educational facilities and gather feedback.
Accompanied by Director School Education Kashmir, Dr. G.N. Itoo, the Secretary visited S.P. Higher Secondary School, Girls Higher Secondary School Kothibagh, and Middle School Kothibagh. At each institution, he interacted with students and staff to understand their experiences and needs, particularly focusing on available infrastructure and academic support.
During a visit to the Kindergarten section of Middle School Kothibagh, the Secretary spent time with young children, highlighting the vital role of early childhood education and the importance of nurturing joyful, engaging learning environments.
Addressing students, Ram Nivas Sharma encouraged them to pursue not only academic excellence but also to actively participate in co-curricular activities. He stressed the importance of adapting to the evolving technological landscape, especially the opportunities presented by the era of Artificial Intelligence.
The Secretary also emphasized the significance of preserving Jammu & Kashmir’s cultural heritage through education and reiterated the urgent need to improve female literacy rates across the region. He assured that the development of school infrastructure will continue to be a top priority for the department.
Later in the day, Sharma chaired a review meeting at the Directorate of School Education Kashmir. The meeting included officers from the department, Chief Education Officers from various districts, and other senior officials.
Dr. G.N. Itoo presented a detailed PowerPoint presentation outlining both academic and non-academic initiatives currently underway, as well as key developmental projects aimed at improving the quality of education in the region.
