Seva Sankalp message echoes at Amar Singh College

Srinagar, Sep 30: A “Seva Sankalp Abhiyan”, presented by the Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi, Ministry of Culture, Government of India, was organised by the Young Dramatists Society (YDS) at Amar Singh College, Srinagar, on Tuesday.

The programme witnessed an enthusiastic response from students, particularly those of the Department of Mass Media, besides faculty members, heads of departments, professors and lecturers.
Principal Amar Singh College, Prof. (Dr.) Tehmina Yousuf, was the chief guest, while Dr. S. P. Verma, President, Padma Shri Gandhi Global Family, attended as the guest of honour.
The highlight of the programme was a Nukkad Natak (street play) presented by artists of the Young Dramatists Society. The performance conveyed messages of social responsibility, public awareness and the spirit of service through an engaging theatrical presentation.
The play featured Mohammad Shafi Khan, Sheikh Mushtaq, Munazah Yousuf, Numan Manzoor, Sabir Rather and Sheikh Shuja. It was written by Dr. Sohan Lal Koul and directed by Altaf Hussain.
The programme was monitored by YDS President Mushtaq Baqal and Vice President Syed Javid Gilani. Wasaaqat Mehraj, Shamiq Parvez, Gaalib and Rashid assisted in the successful conduct of the event.
Media coverage was handled by Jameel Ansar and Tariq Khan.
The enthusiastic participation of students and faculty highlighted the potential of theatre and performing arts as effective tools for promoting social awareness, civic responsibility and the spirit of service among the younger generation.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by YDS Vice President Syed Javid Gilani, who expressed gratitude to the Sangeet Natak Akademi, Ministry of Culture, Amar Singh College, participating artists, students, media representatives and all those associated with the event.
