Severe weather wreaks havoc in Karnah

May 28, 2025 | BK News Service

Sudden and intense weather conditions swept across several areas of Karnah on Monday evening, causing large-scale destruction. Heavy rains, hailstorms, and strong winds led to the collapse of multiple roads, erosion of riverbanks, and severe damage to standing crops. In some areas, rainwater even entered residential houses, adding to the chaos.
Local residents reported that the weather changed abruptly around 5 PM, when thick, dark clouds covered the sky. Within minutes, thunder and lightning gave way to torrential rain and heavy hail, leaving the region battered.
Streams such as Nallah Qazi Nag, Bat Moji, and several other minor water bodies witnessed a sudden surge in water levels, triggering fear and anxiety among people living in nearby localities.
The agricultural sector has taken a major hit, with hail damaging standing crops across vast areas. Farmers, already burdened by various challenges, are now faced with yet another setback. In addition to crop damage, several roads have become impassable due to landslides and waterlogging, affecting connectivity and daily life.
Taking cognizance of the situation, Karnah’s Member of Legislative Assembly, Javed Mirchal, posted on social media, stating that his constituency’s agriculture sector has been severely affected. He also confirmed that numerous roads have been damaged and has directed the local administration to initiate immediate restoration and relief measures.
The affected communities have appealed to authorities for urgent intervention and compensation, as they struggle to cope with the aftermath of the sudden storm.
