
Shillong, June 20: The first half-yearly meeting of the Town Official Language Implementation Committee (Office-1), Shillong for the year 2026 was held on June 19 at the Directorate General Assam Rifles, Laitkor, Shillong.
The meeting was chaired by Major General Jai Singh Bansal, Sena Medal, Additional Director General Assam Rifles, and witnessed participation of around 130 officers from various Central Government offices located in Shillong, along with officials from the Directorate General Assam Rifles.
Shri Rajiv Kumar Naik, Deputy Director (Official Language), Official Language Department, Guwahati, was also present during the meeting.
Discussions focused on the effective implementation and promotion of the Official Language Hindi in government offices, including compliance with the Official Language policy and strengthening its use in official communication.
The Chairperson urged all heads of offices to make sustained and proactive efforts to ensure wider adoption and effective implementation of Hindi in day-to-day official functioning.
On the occasion, prizes under the Town Official Language Shield Scheme 2025–26 were also distributed to winning offices for their performance in promoting the Official Language.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks, marking a reaffirmation of commitment towards strengthening the use of Hindi in official work across government establishments in Shillong.
