Shopian, Aug 24: Under the aegis of the Civic Action Programme, Police in Shopian organized a Road Race Marathon at Zainapora with the objective of promoting physical fitness, sportsmanship, healthy engagement and a drug-free lifestyle among youth.

The race commenced from NIPS Zainapora, proceeded towards Police Station Zainapora and culminated back at NIPS Zainapora. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from local youth and sports enthusiasts, who took part in the race with great zeal, enthusiasm and sporting spirit. The programme provided participants an opportunity to showcase their endurance and athletic abilities while fostering discipline, unity, camaraderie and a spirit of healthy competition.
The event also carried a strong message against drug abuse and substance addiction, encouraging youth to stay away from drugs and adopt healthy, productive and constructive activities. Participants were sensitized about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of sports and physical activities in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
The first, second and third position holders were felicitated with cash prizes and mementos and appreciated for their outstanding performance, determination and sporting spirit.
