Srinagar, Mar 27: The Rural Business Incubation Centre (RBIC) at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Kashmir (SKUAST-K) has launched its flagship “Idea Resonator” series with an inaugural event at Government Degree College (GDC) Kulgam, aimed at promoting agri-business and rural innovation across Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
Supported by NABARD, the initiative seeks to identify and nurture grassroots ideas, transforming them into scalable startups. The opening event witnessed participation of around 100 students, focusing on bridging the gap between academic learning and entrepreneurship.
A key feature of the programme is its Design Thinking workshops, which guide participants in identifying local challenges and developing practical, human-centred solutions. Students engaged in group activities and pitch sessions, showcasing innovative ideas rooted in regional needs.
Following its successful launch, the outreach series will expand to other districts, with upcoming events scheduled at ITI Baramulla, GDC Shopian, and later in Anantnag and Handwara. The programme aims to cover all districts to ensure wider participation of rural youth and student innovators.
RBIC will further support selected participants through mentorship, technical validation, incubation facilities, and grant opportunities, helping them convert ideas into viable business ventures. The initiative is expected to strengthen the regional startup ecosystem while generating employment and promoting sustainable rural development.
