School of Architecture and Landscape design (SoALD), Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra in its commitment to impart superlative hands-on and skill-oriented teaching-learning, organised 3-days workshop for its students. The skill-enhancement workshop focused on the topic ‘Micro-Climatology assessment’ and involved rigorous hands-on training sessions via popular platforms-‘ENVI-Met’ and ‘Urban Climate’ softwares. The training platforms have a great relevance in the current industry, besides a significant addition in the profiles of the students for their employability. The experts, Ar. Amarnath Sharma and Ar. Kshitij Kacker, invited were from department of Architecture and Planning, IIT Roorkee, who are apparently in receipt of Prime Minister Research fellowship (PMRF) for their ongoing Doctoral research studies. The fellowship requires them to engage in different institutions for trainings, and School of Architecture remains grateful to the experts to have selected its students for this rare chance to learn and rise. The workshop was formally inaugurated by Head, Ar. Abhiney Gupta, followed by the detailed modalities by the co-coordinator Ar. Anoop Sharma. The Workshop saw a significant response from the students and the experts were visibly engaged with them in and out of the laboratory till late evenings. In total, around 50 students attended the 3-day workshop with full enthusiasm. Coordinator of the event, Ar. Vinod Kumar, and all other faculty & staff members expressed their eagerness to host such skill-enhancement workshops in near future. Hon’ble Vice-chancellor, SMVDU congratulated the host department for the successful hosting of the event and expressed his full support for meaningful interactions with other institutions through such platforms, specifically in the interest of the students.
