Sonamarg’s Silent Struggle

The fields of Sonamarg have been spread across a fresh pledge on the heroic gold of an autumn morning with a fresh pledge of round-the clock attack, in the Z-Morh tunnel; with a new-vitalized power supply, literally underground to shatter the avalanches down

Kashmir's beauty is something that perhaps no human in the world can remain unaware of. Others refer to it as heaven on earth, whereas others refer to it as heaven. Valleys on all sides of it showcase the various colours of beauty that it presents in each season that is unique in spring, unique in summer, unique in autumn, and completely changed in winter. The whole valley of Kashmir is packed with this breathtaking beauty and it is full of the unending grace and beauty that has to make us, wanderers as we are, fall in love with it. Sonamarg is one of the numerous gems of this gorgeous land.

Sonamarg or Sonmarg, translated to the meadow of gold, is a Kashmir site of extreme elevation of 2740 above the sea level. With the magnificent Himalayan ranges encircling it, majestic glaciers and smooth and placid Alpine lakes, this valley of flowers takes on a new mystery every season-white in snow upon winters and flushed in colourful meads with the coming of spring. Sonamarg is a celebrated destination in the Ganderbal district of and around 87 kilometres from Srinagar and is regarded as the entry point to Ladakh, which is just before the legendary Zojila Pass. In addition to its splendid natural beauty, the town is a paradise of adventure tourist who will find some of the most exciting trekking and hiking routes in the region.
The fields of Sonamarg have been spread across a fresh pledge on the heroic gold of an autumn morning with a fresh pledge of round-the clock attack, in the Z-Morh tunnel; with a new-vitalized power supply, literally underground to shatter the avalanches down. These numbers have been very high there exists a record of more than 8.2 lakh visitors who visit the city in a year making this once seasonal holiday economy a 24 hour one and social infrastructure has yet to keep pace with the changes. The years that follow will be dictated by the rate at which the valley of its Meadow is able to close the divide of its eternal healthcare disparity, the strengthening of the drinking water delivery developments and how the new advancements in electricity delivery and the state of the road can be utilized to the benefit of the daily lives of the citizens not in the postcard view. Population and the locus are written in the back of the postcard. It is more a people than a definition, it turns out to be Sonamarg, a matter of numbers. Sonamarg village, 2011 Census, has 1,051 people in 122 households with low levels of literacy (40.34 percent), and sex ratio (815 to 1,000, very low) skewness that predetermines rural limitations and seasonal changes to mention in a high altitude area where livelihood rates have surged in response of weather fluctuations and weather closing jams as factors used to establish times of course in life. However, the popular till-station centre, mostly seasonal, that focuses on hospitality has been documented to accommodate approximately 392 people in 2011, but without the tourists and other temporary staff the resort has something to remember that people are a moving target as far as the tourism trends are concerned. All these lenses combined justify the reasons why services get stretched in peak months, why the permanent year round provisioning and not increases are critical. It is based on the data on villageinfo.in censusindia.gov.in and Wikipedia to be the market leader. Healthcare: 10 bed facility on the verge of expansion on a growing destination and available throughout the year. Ganderbal has good health indices on paper: it possesses 104 institutions of public health, 2 Sub-District Hospitals in Kangan (trauma unit), 15 PHCs in Gund (trauma unit), 16 NTPHCs and dozens of sub-centres with a mammoth annual commitment to land medical camp operations all along the route of the Baltal route in the honour of the Shri Amarnath Yatra. This network has had a 200-bedded district hospital underway in Duderhama with service layers (USG, ECG, X-ray, OT, and laboratory tests) with the intention of decongesting the secondary care. However, the frontline here is only one, that is, Sonamarg itself, which is not of the required standard by IPHS-2022 and thus requires upgrade, which is not temporary but long-term: 10-bed PHC with the addition of a minor OT and part of the lab. Authors: ganderbal.nic.in, DHS Kashmir and Kashmir life. The government is undertaking some successful surge during the peak pilgrimage and tourism seasons during that period. The fact that the temporary semi-permanent 100-bed hospital established at Baltal as part of CSR adds to the impact of the thousands of feet at the yatra on the PHC of Sonamarg. The other operation, which is used by the district is the chain of medical camps along Srinagar to the Holy Cave side in order to provide the pre-hospital care in the inaccessible terrain.
However at this new transition stage Sonamarg which is shifting to 24x7 activities seasonal supplementation cannot replace 24x7 services, full-time staff and referral channels that would come into play in managing traffic and cardiometabolic crisis as the season traverses into seasonal traffic and activity on 24x7 round-a-year basis. It will only make sense to recommend the Kangan SDH with a trauma unit as the referral centre, the reason behind which is the road conditions, the distance, and the winter weather which makes it closer to Sonamarg. The Earth News and the DHS Kashmir. Neither is it just Sonamarg featuring working and system gaps. The quality of shortage in human resource that strengthens the issue of altitude, distance and weather conditions were disclosed in documents like the historical district planning documents exposed the shortage of cadres ANMs, medical officers, nurses, and laboratory technicians among others at the levels of Ganderbal. This assumption is out of date; but it is a description of the friction within organizations in the delivery of medical care in the rural setting that the current IPHS standards have corrected, so that the current Sonamarg issue can be placed in an interminable history: to be made protocol-bound, linked to Kangan SDH by express protocol, and to be reliant on telemedicine and emergency transport, the latter of which, the national health mission records, and the ganderbal.nic.in, tell, can be performed in snow and worse in sun. Education: There are road schools, but still there are avenues which depend on the road. It means that schools are set-up in the Sonamarg family near residential locations. Higher education facilities GGHS Sonmarg (to Class 10) and PS Raina Mohalla Sonamarg (Classes 1-5) are found in the middle of the grating at the Hariganwan in Ganderbal; higher secondary is available down-the-highway along the valley, most notoriously at Kullan. In the district education page where the school is found, UDISE is utilized with an even distribution of the state educational institutions per block, so the less privileged, however, will find it difficult to stay in the institution and simultaneously the mobility has perennially decided who should go where.
The all-weather connectedness will have to produce a more reliable figure of attendance, more direct trends to higher-secondary and skill training; to exploit that, predictable transit and weatherized accommodation, and an initial consideration on first-generation learners in a service economy which has become one-sided to hospitality and adventure tourism. School sources.schools.org.in, ganderbal.nic.in and the ERIC. Water: Har Ghar Jal--post--and the new business of being there. As of 2022, Ganderbal became the first distinct at J&K to be given the Har Ghar Jal tag along with Srinagar and over 41,000 rural families have been found in Ganderbal to receive tap supply. According to the official reviews that were issued recently, the district in which JJM and the key on-ground infrastructures, including borewells, high and low rate sand filtration plants, overhead tanks, GSRs, and pump rooms, have been connected the 48277 out of 49057 rural households in which there are a portfolio of 88 approved projects. The effort of the high altitude location at Sonamarg is not so much First connection as winter functionality, spring yield changeability and the personality of the water when the entire mountain system has been strained by peak tourism demand, the Himalayan spring of which the valleys long drew life is becoming stressed and arrangements must be made in consultation with the climate. Functionality audit, water quality surveillance is not only intended to develop the network but will decide the permanence of the (Har Ghar Jal) amongst all season hamlets. According to the statements made by Kashmir Observer, Rising Kashmir and Kashmir Digest and India Water Portal. Power: fooling the mountain into undergrounded line. The Gagangir-Sonamarg feeder, prodded but just lately with underground cabling placed along the tube in the Z-Morh, after technical inspection of fitness had been obtained, after months of correction work had been carried out to establish a portion of the route already known to be open to winter avalanches. The authorities argue that the relocation will maintain supply to both residents and business to more than several seasons that is a primary need to any year-round economy within the sub-zero terrain. It does not imply that the problem of reliability is something of the past, even in the years when the winter curtailments, and the popular outcry, replaced the order in the company, the history of the district is a manly reminder of how difficult it is to get the power running when the temperature and the demand coincidentally are in the same time. But the conglomeration of the underground properties and the more vigorous operations in KPDCL is the sign of a changed of gears in Sonamarg and even step of certainty electricity in the power grid transforms the undertaking in the formula of the hotels, medical check centres and schools, which are attempting to act in January. Incidentary quotations: Rising Kashmir Kashmir Life and the ganderbal.nic.in. Work and pay: on the summer concerts in fulltime work, at the fields to the hotels. Agrarian landscape has been the major mode of subsistence in Ganderbal-four-fifths of the working population always agrarian, but supplemented by mineral and small-scale enterprise related benefits-but
Sonamarg strip business is undoubtedly service based and hospitality, guiding, transport and pilgrimage logistic enterprise business is the mainstay of subsistence. The foot traffic has overstepped the limit and so has the optimism where the opening of the Z-Morh tunnel has been called game changer as the winter season has become manageable besides the staff in the pony-wallahs, sledge team, hotels and adventure outfitters are sure of good incomes. Even to the service economy, potent potential opportunities are projected in prospective areas even to tourism services and health diagnostic laboratories because service economy is associated with a developed social setting. Assuming that the following wave is the incorporation of skilling into the mountain rescue, the hospitability management and eco-tourism will be more inclined to stretch the income map on the infrastructure to a more relaxed household income map on this valley. A more elaborate report was stated in a report prepared by the DCMSME and in the articles published by the Kashmir life, Greater Kashmir, Hindustan Times, etc. Bridging the healthcare gap: road destinations in the stars category. The policy choices are clear. First off, modernize PHC Sonamarg to the level of IPHS-2022, not only the number of beds but also the staffing, the round-the-clock centre, the necessary obstetric treatment, and emergency resuscitation service a 10-bed institution in the national tourism centre is a license which the weather has decree cannot deny. Second, offsite, take a grid of annual referrals to record SDH Kangan trauma unit is in the centre of the winterized ambulances and telemedicine connections, which are not improvised, semi-annually. Third, fund the pipelines of the local human resource (nurses, lab techs, EMTs, etc.) using the tourism dividend in such a way that the seasonal peaks in the staffing are removed. And fourth, to add to the tourism plan, water quality and waste management, as a foot-footed print as the processes determining is the manner in which to get the temperatures on the edges of the periphery congested down-stream facilities concerning the high visitor seasons. The mountain no longer besieged Sonamarg, lost power below and the road is clear; whether the clinic, the tap and the classroom will be reliable as the tunnel. Its reference was made in The Kashmir Life, ganderbal.nic.in Rising Kashmir.
This was the first opportunity I found to find out more about this beautiful place when I started researching about the healthcare facilities in Sonamarg in my master’s thesis. Indeed, it is quite possible that there are still areas of this valley where primary facilities have not yet been developed and residents, children, adults, and all individuals, have to deal with daily challenges to prove themselves. Each time a step in my research took place, I was silently praying that something will be found and that the work of the government and researches will be able to find some comfort and relieve in the nearest future. May the hope of progress bring easier times, and bring too, a future in which every want is satisfied To the wonderful people of Sonamarg.
