Northeast, Nov 8: In a continued effort to strengthen community welfare and promote educational development, formations of the Indian Army's Spear Corps have organised a series of civic action initiatives across Northeast India, focusing on digital literacy, inclusive education and preventing school dropouts.
The initiatives were undertaken in Manipur, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh under Operation Sadbhavana and Operation Samaritan, reflecting the Army's continued commitment to supporting local communities through education-oriented interventions.
In Manipur, Assam Rifles distributed information technology equipment at Willong Khullen in Senapati district under Operation Sadbhavana. The initiative aims to improve access to digital resources and strengthen the technological learning environment for local communities.
The provision of IT equipment is expected to help bridge the digital divide, particularly in remote areas where access to computers and modern educational facilities remains limited.
In another initiative in Mizoram, Assam Rifles extended educational support to children of the Ephatha Special School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Aizawl. Study materials and school kits were distributed among the students to encourage learning and provide assistance in their educational journey.
The initiative highlighted the importance of inclusive education and ensuring that children with hearing disabilities receive opportunities and resources necessary for their development.
Meanwhile, under Operation Samaritan, Spear Corps formations carried the message of 'NO DROPOUT' to St Joseph School at Kaying in Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh.
A drawing competition was organised to encourage creativity, participation and awareness among students about the importance of continuing education. Computers were also distributed to support digital learning and improve access to technology.
The initiative sought to encourage students to remain engaged with education while highlighting the role of schools, families and communities in preventing dropouts.
The three initiatives reflect the Indian Army's broader approach to civic engagement, wherein educational support, technological access and community participation are treated as important elements of development.
Through Operation Sadbhavana and Operation Samaritan, the Army has continued to undertake activities aimed at connecting with local communities, particularly in remote and underserved areas.
The latest interventions are expected to contribute towards strengthening educational opportunities, promoting digital awareness and creating a more supportive learning environment for children across the Northeast.
The Spear Corps initiatives also underline the importance of collective efforts by institutions and communities in ensuring that every child has access to education and the opportunity to build a better future.
