Dimapur, Oct 13: Students from various colleges of Dimapur undergoing an internship programme with Spear Corps visited a multi-speciality medical outreach camp in Phek district of Nagaland, gaining first-hand insights into healthcare challenges faced by people living in remote and border areas.
The camp was organised by Assam Rifles under the aegis of Spear Corps, with volunteer medical specialists from Maharashtra providing medical assistance to local residents and beneficiaries.
During the visit, the interns interacted with the volunteer medical specialists, local residents and beneficiaries to understand the difficulties faced by communities in accessing healthcare services in geographically remote areas.
The interaction provided the students an opportunity to observe how medical outreach initiatives help address gaps in healthcare delivery, particularly in areas where access to specialised medical facilities and professional healthcare services remains challenging.
The visiting students also gained insights into the coordinated efforts of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles in extending medical assistance to underserved communities through outreach programmes focused on public welfare.
The participation of volunteer medical specialists from Maharashtra highlighted the role of collaboration between medical professionals and security forces in taking healthcare services closer to people in need.
Such initiatives are particularly significant in remote and border regions, where difficult terrain and limited access to healthcare infrastructure can create additional challenges for residents seeking timely medical attention.
The interns' interactions with beneficiaries offered them a closer understanding of the human impact of these programmes, including the importance of compassionate service, community engagement and sustained efforts to improve healthcare access.
The visit also formed part of the students' broader learning experience under the internship programme with Spear Corps, exposing them to community-oriented initiatives undertaken by the armed forces in the Northeast.
