Spear Corps leads flood relief, rescue Ops in Manipur villages

September 18, 2025 | BK News Service

Imphal, Sep 17: In a commendable display of dedication and humanitarian spirit, the Spear Corps of the Indian Army launched extensive flood relief and rescue operations in the flood-affected regions of Shanti Khongbal, YKPI, Sabunkhok Khunou, and Thamnapokpi in Manipur.

Triggered by relentless rains over the past week, the flash floods disrupted normal life, submerging homes, displacing families, and cutting off access to essential services. Responding swiftly, troops from Spear Corps reached the worst-hit areas with boats, medical aid, food packets, and other essential supplies.
Operating under the motto of "Service Before Self," the soldiers worked tirelessly, often in challenging conditions, to evacuate stranded villagers, restore connectivity, and provide immediate medical care to those in need.
Images from the ground showed troops carrying children and the elderly to safety, distributing clean drinking water, and coordinating with civil administration to stabilize the situation.
A defence spokesperson stated, “The Indian Army remains committed to safeguarding not just the borders but also the people. These relief efforts reflect our enduring bond with the people of Manipur.”
Local residents expressed profound gratitude, with many saying that the timely intervention saved lives and provided hope amid chaos.
As rainfall continues to pose a threat in low-lying areas, the Spear Corps remains on high alert, with contingency plans in place for further assistance if required.
The operation stands as yet another testament to the Army’s unwavering commitment to humanitarian assistance, especially in times of crisis.
