Mizoram, June 5: On the occasion of World Environment Day 2026, formations under Spear Corps carried out extensive tree plantation drives and environmental awareness programmes across Mizoram.

The initiatives witnessed active participation from personnel who planted saplings of various indigenous species as part of efforts to enhance green cover and promote biodiversity in the region.
Alongside plantation activities, awareness drives were also organised to highlight the importance of environmental protection, sustainable living, and ecological balance. Participants were encouraged to adopt eco-friendly practices in daily life and contribute to conservation efforts.
Officials said the initiatives reflect the formations’ continued commitment to nurturing biodiversity and supporting a sustainable, eco-friendly future.
The programmes underline the Army’s focus on environmental responsibility alongside its operational duties, reinforcing the message of collective responsibility towards nature conservation and climate action.
